Really i think 1-4 players is perfect because then the whole family can play and solve puzzles and stuff. But I also think that the series should continue with single player mode. It would possibily ruin the series feel. But I do think that change could give MediEvil a possible future. Multiplayer or single or Multiplayer online what do you think?
MediEvil 3 will probably be a 1 player deal if it is made, sure a 4 player game could work but not as the third main entry into the series. If they make a multiplayer MediEvil it would probably be a spin-off. There could be some multiplayer in 3 but it would probably be similar to that of Resurrection's 2 player mode.
Multiplayer and online components seem to be really important in gaming right now, so I think a new MediEvil title should support them. As for the execution... I imagine something more interactive than the "multiplayer" in Resurrection would be good.
Well I would like to think that if medievil 3 was made and it did have multiplayer in the game and online. Then I think that you would have to be dan mainly throughout the game but then be a different character at certain points in the game.(this is mainly 1 player where you could switch characters in the game like lego for example)now that wouldnt really mess up the game.with online I think that they should do minigames like in reserrection and waves enemys that kind of stuff.
Resurrection's multiplayer was garbage. It was obviously tacked on at the end of development and consisted of nothing but off-screen "races" through the single player levels.
I believe that multiplayer could work in the series if done well. Something similar to Dark Soul's multiplayer could work great without negatively affecting the game.
I honestly never played the multiplayer for Resurrection so I always wondered about that, I always assumed it was a multiplayer of the carnival games somehow.
I just checked, and yeah, the multiplayer does also feature the minigames. I only managed to play the "race" portion once, and from what I recall, you had to run through the level activating checkpoints till you got to the end. Your opponent was entirely off-screen and all you could see was an indicator that showed how many checkpoints they had activated. I've heard that the minigames function the same way. Not very exciting, since all you're doing is playing the game single player and then comparing scores at the end.
I didn't really overall care for Dark Souls, but one of the things I did like about that game was how the multiplayer was handled. You actually kind of had to find it first by progressing through the beginning of the game and looking through some of the backstory. You could discover bloodstains left behind by other players which, upon touching would cause their shade to appear and re-enact its own death. They could also leave messages or tips lying around on the ground to help you out. Then, by using the required items, players could either invade your game in a PvP match or assist you against boss battles in co-op. Also, if there was a player in your soul range and they were close to your level, than you could see them as ghosts. I think something like that would fit well for the atmosphere of MediEvil and would still keep the game a single player experience at its core.
