I'm very hyped too. I was fearing a game that only "looked" like Medievil but was something completely different, but instead we are indeed getting what we were asking for all these years. An actual remake and not just an "HD port of Resurrection" like many seemed to fear so much.

Sony is probably aiming for the younger audience and acording to this it has to be cartoony to get this age rating.

Will there be much point in getting a PS4 pro if you already have a PS4? I honestly can't tell the different between 720p, 1080p and 4k anyway. Regarding the use of scarecrow fields ost resurrections version (can't remember what level it was used on in resurrections). I am honestly fine with it. Much rather get Bob & Barn's orchestral ost rather than some impersonators trying to copy their style.
I have a PS4 and I don't think I need the pro to enjoy the quality of this game! Think I'll spend enough on the pre-order 😉 I honestly think using medievil resurrection ost is great! I prefer the orchestral feel to the soundtrack! It feels more Gothic and intensifies the atmosphere playing the game! So happy both Jason and Chris are consulting the game and giving a good direct approach to the art style! Which is reminiscing in the remake! So many good things happening and can't wait for a new generation to enjoy what we enjoyed 20 years ago! 😀

Jason Wilson and Chris Sorrell are confirmed as consultants. Seeing as the bulk of the concept was Chris Sorrell's and the overall aesthetic was that of Jason Wilson's, this is a very good indication of, if anything else, that we might well get something more in line with their original vision, but realised with modern technology. Also! Seeing as both Chris and Jason went as far as telling the press that they hadn't even been approached at first (clearly a lie to keep the project under the tarp, so to speak), I wonder if B&B were telling me fibs when I emailed them when this whole thing was first announced? Would be amazing if they came back to do the score

I think it looked really good and I am extremely happy that they went for a PSone Medievil remake instead of a Medievil resurrection remake.
I think some people here are waaay too perfectionist and demanding concerning this future game. Guys, this is bound to be different to what you have in your head, just get over it.
The compromise realism/style seems ok for me, the spirit of the first episode seems respected. My only reserve is that it is a bit too dark and not colourful enough (still miles ahead of Resurrection which completely missed the point). Also the zombies are not goofy enough.
It needs more polish obviously but I am very relieved about the direction it is taking.
Frankly the worst thing about this trailer are the comments so far. Old-gen game? Get a grip for God's sake.

I made this correction image if anyone is interested. I am really not keen on the green fog, and I really dislike the new books. (They look kinda tacky). I am kind of annoyed by the textures. I feel like they could have taken some of the ground textures (like the streaky dirt in this shot) rather than replacing them with generic photographs of real life materials. A lot of the charm of MediEvil was in its texture work which at times looked hand-painted and pixel-art. I can relate with that, handpainted textures work so much better for this type of game.

I literally couldn't think of a different duo they could be talking about.
Like, surely if they've gone to the lengths of getting Jason Wilson in to record Dan with a bucket over his head, they'll be getting Paul Arnold and Andrew Barnabas back in to do the score. It has to be them. they've composed every single game

One day after the trailer release, and after watching it for a houndreds of time I have cooled down my emotions.
I have come to a conclusion... I love evrything that was shown in the trailer. It has nothing to do with resurrection.
The color palette is perfect, just look at the enchanted earth, look at the green forrest enlighted by the strong torch light and trees swiming in the light blue water.
Look at the pools of ancient death where you can really feel the wind blowing and the rain falling.
Evrything is looking beautifull good job Other Ocean, Digital Eclipse and Sony! Thank you for bringing MediEvil back!

This one is much better You are right! Seeing it with the frame correction, I'm really impressed how accurate the intro is.

Loving that comparison video! Just shows how far technology has gone in 20 years! I think the best level remake from the trailer has to be the ancient pools of the dead! It just visually looks stunning! Can't wait to see more!

I think that low laying fog really suits a marshy wetland like 'Pools of the ancient dead'. Like the stagnant air of a place where there are a ton of dead bodies under the water.

Am I the only one here that hates the fluo green fog everywhere? The background should be dark, like the original...

Am I the only one here that hates the fluo green fog everywhere? The background should be dark, like the original... The orginal had dark background because of limitations of ps1. Personaly I like it because you can see now more in the distance and it has some feeling the ground is enchanted by the Zaroks spell. We have allready discused that here before if I remember right.

I know why it was dark, but it helped in creating the atmosphere. Also, why is Dan's eye blue? It has always been black/brown... The only place where it's blue is the 20th anniversary picture.

It's fine, you can express your opinion that you don't like something and that's fine. Though this is a pretty hardcore fanbase for anything Medievil, so you must have expected some resistance to anything negative you might have to say.
Me? I'm gonna get two copies so my feet have a copy to play whilst my hands are busy playing the other, yehaaaaaaw!

This far my only complaint is Dan's blue eye, but nothing I can't shrug off. I was almost expecting a brighter appearance because of the matter already explained above (the limitations thing), but won't this means we get to enjoy Gallowmere more? C'mon, it's nice to have something worth watching once we're done slaying zombies. As far as I know, there might be something going on the distance for us to find and watch, like a funny background event or something particular like some survivor trying to run off or even some other knight trying to fight the zombies themselves.

Just because you like a franchise doesn't mean that everything they do with it is Good. It's like they changed spyro's colour from purple to green and everyone said "ok i'll accept it because it is spyro". Other than that, i am happy for the remake

I don’t think eye colour is comparable to all the scales of a dragon. Though honestly, if enough people mention wanting the eye colour to change, I don’t see why they wouldn’t change it, as it’s a matter of minutes at best.

Plus it's not like you'll be seeing his eye a shit ton in a third person adventure game anyway. It is just for consistency. Like the fact in resurrection he was depicted with blond hair when We all know he had black hair. It is something that they changed for no reason. The only real problem for me is the green fog tho.

It fits the style of the game, and it's something the PS1 was not able to do correctly back in the day (for example the type of fog Silent Hill 1 used would have been awful for a game like MediEvil).
