I'd say Zarok in serpant form. It's easy to kill him when you get the chance, but my lord he doesn't stop following you! I know that's what he's supposed to do, but if you fought him if he wasn't a serpant, consider everybody screwed.

There's not a single doubt in my mind that the Pirate Captain is the hardest boss, since my aim is terrible and those obnoxious pirates won't stop pestering me while I'm trying to light the club and fire the cannons. Even to this day I always lose about three or more life bottles in that fight.
All the other bosses are now extremely easy, but I remember how the Demonettes used to put up a very tough fight back in the days. They're also practically impossible to defeat without the Flaming Longbow and perhaps the Spear.
I seriously cannot understand, however, how anyone can think that Lord Kardok is a tough boss. He's usually down in about ten seconds if you just keep swinging the Magic Sword at him.
Also, I think the fight against the Skeletal Warriors is very annoying. I remember how it took me two years or so until I managed to defeat them. Still, I find the fight with the Pirate Captain to be harder, especially nowadays.

Kardok is the best boss to use that Lightning you probably otherwise never get a chance/an excuse to use, charge it up and run around him for an automatic constant attack even if you aren't facing him!

I hesitate between the pirate captain, and the golems at the end of the haunted ruins, the golems are easy to defeat but if you consider that time is part of the boss, and that if you lost against time you lost against the boss, well it is a hard boss.
For the pirate captain, it is the same, he doesn't make you any damage, it is his teammates who makes you a lot of damages. Thus it is a hard boss if you consider his teammates are part of its.
Both take me several time to beat them, the other bosses were easier. Then i replay the game recently i manage to deal with the golems fastly with the dragon armor, and it was easy. But the pirate captain was harder, that is really annoying is you can get rid of his teammates definitely, they always came back, you can't throw them beyond the ship, you can't turn them in food with the chicken thing and you can't burn them.

Yes but all of them are easy to beat when you know the trick to defeat them, i remember when i was a kid that the time limit was frustrating and i had to repeat this fight many time before i can reach the next level. If you didn't get the second dragon stone, you didnt have the dragon armor, and the first time you don t know that you must do to leave the castle, you waste a lot of time thus i remember that was a hard challenge the first time without the dragon armor. This was the boss who takes you in the grave with him.
The skeletal army. It's really tricky running around zapping your army with the lightning and trying to make sure all of them are healthy, and it damaging your health, too.
All bow down before the master of the vegetable patch, the prize-winning plant who can summon an army of cabbage with a wave of his noble tendril.
He's delicious. He's nutritious. He's Zarok's secret recipe - he's the Pumpkin King!
