What happened? So, as I'm sure you've noticed, all the old threads are gone. You may be wondering why that is. Well, due to some petty drama between the moderators, specifically myself and Garden Variety Zombie, myself and other mods were banned from the forum by GVZ. The forum was then taken over by someone pretending to be me who proceeded to decimate completely everything. Can we recover what was lost?Unless someone's made local backups of the forum, no. ProBoards cannot or will not help, though they likely do have the forum backed up in some capacity from my understanding, so you decide which it is. We've asked them for help here and here. Feel free to reach out to them too if you like. However, snapshots of the old forum have been captured by the Internet Archive. You can check those out here. Many of us also have things, such as the downloads, backed up locally, and will be reuploading them to the forum in due time. If you have anything like that as well, please feel free to pitch in and help in restoring the lost content. Why not keep the old layout? We (the admin and I) didn't think we could justify keeping the layout as it used to be because we don't think the forum will ever reach the levels of activity it once used to have now that the community has mostly moved on to other platforms (Discord servers, Reddit, etc). And the very sad truth is that the old forum is lost forever, so for me the old layout would just be a painful reminder of what we've lost. What now?I guess we can only try to rebuild. As I've mentioned, if you have anything that's missing you would like to share, please feel free to do so.
I know this is incredibly frustrating and upsetting. Believe me, I've definitely been going through it... So please feel free to use this thread to vent your frustrations as well as to ask further questions if you have any. Thanks for reading. UpdateSome good news: I've been able to recover a decent chunk of our threads by scraping search engine caches. You can download what I've been able to archive here: https://mega.nz/file/rbJEAYAJ#D6vjsC1matxIAbkGUEM80KXuBhOTGWVAhjb3ZT9Y7FA

Maybe we will never reach the levels of the previous one... but we will work hard!

Well, I guess the curse of real time messaging is the fact that it tries to mimic real conversations, which—due to the lack of mental health and communication skills—usually does not go well in online communities, especially in those based on videogames. I'm really sad about the forum, but oh well, what can we do. It was already kind of dead, but it was always good to go down memory lane (it is really fortunate that we have the wayback machine versions). I think I have some Medievil 2 models and textures saved in my dropbox account. I can reupload them, if you want (unfortunately, I cannot remember the name of the original uploader). By the way, Dan's Friend, you were a wonderful admin to this forum, and your work (the MediEvil wiki, the Discord server) was vital in maintaining the fandom, so don't let this unfortunate case affect you too much. Thanks for your work.

Small update: Someone suggested a way that some of the content could be saved. Nothing that was members only, but everything that was public at least. Stay tuned.

By the way, while searching for old stuff, I found a thread where InnocentSam linked a webpage containing a "MediEvil backup repository". Unfortunately, the site requires a username and a password. Could be useful, though, if InnocentSam is still around.

Nice one! I actually remember the log in details. I will share them in the downloads section momentarily.

Nobody can take the memories we made here. I wasn't very active but it's the one forum I've had no bad experience with. Sadly I have nothing saved but if I can help in any other way feel free to contact me.

This was the first forum I ever joined... Thinking that a part of it is lost makes me sad. I'll try to help, too.

The MediEvil community is the last place I would expect this to happen.

I'm not used at all to forums or things like this in general, but if there is something I can help with, I would be more than happy to help.

The MediEvil community is the last place I would expect this to happen. I know, but sadly things went the way they went... All we can do is to prevent this from happening again.

Late to the party, as always, but this in incredibly sad to hear. There was so much content in this place spanning back to when I was in highschool, way over 10 years ago.
I figured something was awry when I logged in now for the first time in ages to find that all the boards were gone, but to hear it was lost in the way it was is pretty surprising to say this is the Medievil community. This is the first community like this I ever signed up to and I have always found it to be the most amicable and friendly one there is.
What happened with GVZ if you don't mind me asking?
EDIT: Also, good shout on adding the Reddit link to the topbar!

Very late to the party as well. Haven't been able to get back here due to various things happening this year. I also started contributing more to a restoration hack that I've been involved with on the Panel de Pon community on discord for quite some time, so I really haven't had the time. Back on topic... Man, I never expected such a thing to happen to a site like this one! I hope that most of the forum posts and such can be restored in some way, via the internet archive backups and so on. I certainly haven't been that active around here, and the last posts I made was mainly about my own projects and stuff. Those posts may or may not be gone now. They don't matter much to me anyway. I could always recreate the threads if I wanted to. Maybe I'll do it, or maybe not... I think I'll leave that up to myself to decide. Aside from the MediEvil PSX prototypes I've been holding on to since downloading them off this site and the Hidden Palace, I doubt I have that much MediEvil-related stuff that no one else already has backed up locally, so I don't think I'll be able to contribute much. I probably have some loose files on one of my external HDDs, but I think it would be just that, and maybe it wouldn't be anything new, unless I'm remembering things wrong... wasn't very good at organizing and sorting all my files back in my early years, so things might have ended up here and there across various folders. EDIT: After reading the thread in the MediEvil Boards backup where I asked a question about the Sleeping Village level in Medievil 1(1998), I ended up chuckling over it instead of feeling embarrassed. Suppose my view on it has changed with time, or maybe because I've grown a bit older compared to then? Anyway, I found a couple files that I downloaded off this forum years ago; a file named medievilmaps.rar, and three files named Med2_ply.7z.00X(X being 1-3). The latter need to all be highlighted in order to extract its contents with 7zip(as far as I know). Below is some pics showing part of their contents. medievilmaps.rar files: Med2_ply.7z.00X files: From what I can remember, they seem to be ripped models from MediEvil 1(1998) and 2. The Med1 files may already be old stuff, and maybe even the Med2 ones. Probably nothing worth bothering about maybe, seeing as the files of the Med1 level models have already been archived?

Tried searching for a cached version of one of my threads on Google, Bing, and Yahoo search engines: ConkerGuru's MediEvil 2 Codes and FindingsUnfortunately, the cached page seems to not be available anymore... What I have of the thread is very little, like the gameshark codes and the pics, stashed away at places on my primary 1TB ext. HDD. Whatever I wrote in that thread of mine I can't really remember(though the beginning part of the first post still appears when hovering over the page link), but I'll try my best to rebuild the thread using the files I've got, unless someone would like to try find the cached version of the topic. At this point though I'm doubting it's still available...

It has all cached threads I could find (except for Archive.org, which I have yet to go through). Not sure if your thread is in there off the top of my head but it might be. EDIT: Nevermind, I just realised you’ve already seen that. Sorry, guess the thread is gone then.

Yeah. A bummer this kind of thing had to happen. At least two of my threads seem to be in the archive though, the Sleeping Village one I mentioned in my previous post, and the Jasper the Penguin(German) episode oddity thread. The video in the latter thread has since been made private. I still have the video in my files though, so it's not really lost.
As for the thread I was looking for, the only thing I can do at this point is recreating it. Only problem for me though is sorting out which gameshark codes stuff is newer or not, because I happened to keep .txt files with older info.(I always tend to do that. I've been like this since I started making my own games and stuff...)

Maybe this is terrible of me, but I'm glad Garden Variety Zombie is gone. He only said negative things on every thread and was a total know it all, acted like the game was his or something. I posted a picture of a fresh Sir Dan tattoo I got and he insulted my arm skin..... like it was just unwrapped and still covered in the goop. Just seems a little nicer around here is all. Grateful the forum is still here!

I posted a picture of a fresh Sir Dan tattoo I got and he insulted my arm skin..... like it was just unwrapped and still covered in the goop. Just seems a little nicer around here is all. Grateful the forum is still here! I somehow missed this, and doubt I will ever get a reply but I want to respond anyway. I was never gone from the forum and this was not my fault, as much as some people felt it was mine and most likely still do, I was taken advantage of when I felt really depressed and tired one night over an argument started by someone else. I never left the forum and was never asked to leave either. I left the main discord because of so much ill feeling and didn't feel like people wanted me there though. I honestly don't remember your arm tattoo or your skin, and if I insulted you or you felt that way then I apologise, can you post it again or something somewhere? I also don't remember being so negative that it was felt that every post I made, it was somehow felt all my posts were like that, or that I ever acted like the game was mine (which it obviously isn't, not do I know how someone would even be able to act like that). I'm not a total know it all about MediEvil and there are/were people here and on the discord that know far more in depth stuff about the game than me. Maybe sometimes I made jokes and it was felt I meant them seriously? I don't know because I really don't remember a lot of what you are referring to. In summary, if I made you feel bad repeatedly then I do apologise.
